So it turns out that we may have forgotten a few of the many benefits of our Clean Diesel technology. You can’t blame us: between lower emissions and the torquey festival o’ fun experience you get behind the wheel, who cares about saving money?
Duh. Thanks to Intellichoice.com, we remembered that saving money is a good thing, and wouldn’t you know it, the VW Jetta TDI Clean Diesel saves a bucket full of Benjamins. According to their recent survey, in fact, people who buy the Jetta TDI Clean Diesel can save more than $6,200 in the first five years of ownership.
That’s amazing, but here’s an even better news flash: the U.S. government’s C.A.R.S. program. From now until November 1, 2009, if you’ve got a beater and you trade it in on a Jetta TDI Clean Diesel sedan, you also might get yourself a $3,500 or $4,500 voucher, depending on the trade-in vehicle. Your incentive, if you purchase and if you qualify for the tax credit*, may be up to $5,800.

I have owned mine for six months. With less than 6,000 miles, a road trip got me 51 mpg. It can only get better after then engine is broken in.
